Name brand vs generic cables? - acoustic research cables

I am interested in the improvement of i-cable connected to my home entertainment. I am currently using the standard RCA cables for audio and component video cables. I would use fiber optic digital audio and HDMI cable for video. Best Buy has several models, ranging in price from about $ 15.99 to over $ 100. Monster cable I use with my home theater. The sound is loud and clear, and I do not know how you would whistle when generic cable. If you all sounds ACBL cheap crap and not get a clear signal. Monster is a bit expensive, but worth the investment.
